During the week of October 18-22, 2021 the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office, Newberg-Dundee Police, McMinnville Police and Yamhill County Health and Human Services conducted a 40-hour Crisis Intervention Team training. This was the fourth training like this that has been sponsored by these agencies; however, this one was slightly different in that the students were all from Yamhill County.
During the week long training the students were provided with instruction from local experts on various topics, including, Substance Abuse Disorders, Mental Health and Personality Disorders, Age Related Disorders, Youth Interventions, Legal Considerations, Cognitive Disorders, Autism, Hearing Voices and Active Listening, De-escalation with Active Listening, Trauma Cycle, Excited Delirium, Veterans Affairs, Medications, Hospitalization Process, Self-Care and Lived Experiences. The week was wrapped up by conducting scenario based training with actors who presented real-life situations the officers had to address and bring to an acceptable conclusion.
