This morning the Veterans Club at George Fox University held a flag ceremony in front of the campus clock tower co-hosted with color guard representatives of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 4015 and American Legion Post 57.
The Associate Dean of Students David Johnstone sponsored this event on behalf of George Fox University Veterans Club. Members of the club showed up at 9am for a Flag Folding ceremony.
An American flag was given to Stauros Gibson, the President of George Fox University Veterans Club on behalf of American Legion, VFW and other patron members of the club.
Gibson said, “Today we are thankful for The George Fox Veterans Club providing this opportunity that promotes Veterans Day and those who have served our nation. Thank you! With ongoing vital university support we will continue working toward #BeKnown pledge, Veteran access to benefits, a future location for GFU Veterans Club meeting area, and possibly Veteran specific educational classes. These classes could be a game changer for how the University can retain and support Veteran students. We look forward to linking arms with community organizations and the University! Thank you!.”
